Dia de Independencia de Costa Rica - by Kristen

15 September 2011

We walked to town to meet a friend who was picking us up to take us to a BBQ with some other families.  We had some extra time to stop and watch the Atenas Independence Day Parade.  It was fun to see the children dressed in traditional dress, playing traditional music, and performing traditional dance.

It was a pretty eventful few days surrounding Independence Day.  Not for us, but for the Ticos.  Our kids go to be at 7pm.  :]  We live outside of town and heard nightly parties, music, cannon shots celebrating this holiday.

We spent the rest of the day in Guaichipelin with a few other American and Canadian families.  Our kids had a great time being entertained by others besides their mom and dad.  We had a great time talking to other adults and holding actual conversations.  :]

We feel blessed to be able to spend this time in such a great country.

Happy Independence Day, Costa Rica!
